Obtaining a full GB driving licence
Provisional driving licence
In order to be able to start driving you need to apply for a provisional licence. This will enable you to drive with a supervising driver who has held a full GB licence for 3 years and is age 21 or older. You cannot drive unaccompanied with a provisional licence.
You can apply for a provisional licence either by getting a form from the post office
or apply online at the direct.gov website.
The fee for a provisional licence is £50
When you have received your provisional licence you can then book driving lessons with a professional Driving Standards Agency approved driving instructor.

Theory test
Before you can take a practical driving test you need to pass the theory test.
This test consists of 50 multiple choice questions which include a case study. there is also a hazard perception test included with the theory test which consists of identifying hazards on 14 video clips.
Ask your Five Star Driver Training instructor for help and advise with the theory test and training materials that are available.

You will need a debit or credit card and your driver number which can be found on your provisional licence

Practical driving test
When you have passed the theory test you can then book a practical driving test
The driving test has been designed so that you can demonstrate that you can, without supervision, drive safely with consideration for other road users and have a good knowledge of the rules of the Highway Code.
Before you go ahead and book your driving test it is best that you ensure that you have gained enough knowledge, experience and training to ensure success
An experienced Five Star Driver Training instructor will guide you through the full learning to drive syllabus and be able to advice you when you are ready for the test
